Students must be awarded Federal Work-Study through their 2018-2019 Financial Aid award to be eligible to apply for the positions listed.  All positions are available for the academic year (fall and spring semesters) and located on the USD campus, unless otherwise noted.  The start date and weekly schedule will be determined at the time of hire.  Most positions offer the opportunity to work 10-15 hours per week during the fall and spring semester.  Students may be considered for positions with additional responsibilities and higher pay rates, depending on their skills and experience.

Anthropology

Job Title: Student Assistant
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour

Campus Recreation

Job Title: Recreations Operations Assistant
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour

Responsibilities:

  • Promote the health and wellness of the campus community by facilitating safe and effective facility operations and related recreation/fitness programs
  • Create an inclusive and welcoming environment, including serving as a positive first point of contact and remaining informed about all Campus Recreation programs and facilities to provide knowledgeable customer service
  • Facilitate all aspects of facility including overseeing facility entry/checking IDs, regularly monitoring floors to ensure safety/security and providing assistance to patrons/guests
  • Conduct assigned maintenance tasks throughout the facility ensuring all equipment and areas are cleaned, organized and fully functioning, updating related logs as appropriate
  • Promote University Fitness programs and any activities offered
  • Walk and/or drive to various areas on-campus or locally to fulfill errands related to the facility and fitness programs as needed (e.g. trade out towels, pick-up print jobs, deliver documents, etc.)

  • Schedule and check-in student appointments
  • Accommodate students for triage counseling and consultation process, and prepare required paperwork for student
  • Campus errands like inter-campus delivery of exams and/or other general office documents, as requested
  • Assist the Executive Assistants of CC, DLDRC and Student Wellness in clerical tasks including but not limited to faxing, copying, filing and scanning documents; flyers posting and distributing, and other related task
  • Maintain office and kitchen cleanliness

Creative Zone

Job Title: Graphic Designer
Pay Rate: $12.00/hour

Responsibilities:

  • Provides creative design, typesetting, and layout for various marketing material
  • Effectively utilizes illustration, photography, and stock art to enhance print material, while keeping in mind good design principles
  • Meets and keeps in contact with clients to provide project updates
  • Works as a member of the Creative Zone team to provide quality customer service to clients
  • Processes work orders, accurately logging project progress, and time spent on projects
  • Attends weekly meetings with supervisor as well as bi-semester department meetings
  • Serves as a “creative consultant” to clients, which may include working “one-on-one,” sharing ideas about design, etc.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of USD’s brand and visual identity
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
