Students must be awarded Federal Work-Study through their 2014-2015 Financial Aid award to be eligible to apply for the positions listed. All positions are available for the academic year (fall and spring semesters) and located on the USD campus, unless otherwise noted. The start date and weekly schedule will be determined at the time of hire. Most positions offer the opportunity to work 10-12 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. Students may be considered for positions with additional responsibilities and higher pay rates, depending on their skills and experience.

Ahlers Center for International Business

Job Title: Student Assistant
Pay Rate: $9.00/hour
Department Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Required: Federal Work-Study included in 2014-2015 Financial Aid Award

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Ahlers Center staff with data entry, word processing, copying,  filing, run errands on campus
  • Assist with preparation for events and mailings; design posters and fliers
  • Assemble notebooks, binders and educational materials
  • Respond to student inquiries regarding programs
  • Catalog program participant information
  • Contact outside agencies to gather information about foreign countries

Additional requirements: Applicant must be creative, extremely proficient on an iMac computer and skilled at creating fliers and posters in Pages. Must be reliable, respect confidentiality, have a positive attitude and be punctual.

Joan B. Kroc Institute of Peace & Justice

Job Title: Student Assistant
Pay Rate: $9.00/hour
Hours assistance is needed:  Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Responsibilities:

  • Telephone Operator: answer telephones, transfer calls, deliver messages in timely manner
  • Customer service: work at reception desk providing information and assistance to clients/visitors/guests
  • Office work: Print, copy, fax, scan, make signs, collate, make on-campus deliveries and run on-campus errands  
  • Work with Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, Word, Power Point, and Publisher
  • Assist with daily operations of department work area as directed
  • Assist at events
  • Assist with the above jobs in any/all Kroc School units as needed

Law School, Dean's Office

Job Title: Student Assistant
Pay Rate: $10.00/hour
Hours Student Employment is needed: Monday to Friday, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative assistance in the Office of the Dean
  • Type, file, data entry answer telephones, and greet guests
  • Receive and distribute general and inter-departmental mails
  • Freshman preferred

Mail Center

Job Title: Student Assistant
Pay Rate: $9.00/hour
Department Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Responsibilities:

  • Sort student mail, packages, etc. and shelve according to last name
  • Forward student mail to new location on campus
  • Help deliver mail to offices on campus
  • Work at the service window in the Mail Center

Music

Job Title: Student Assistant
Pay Rate: $9.00/hour
Department Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Assist executive assistant with variety of clerical/administrative work including: copy, type, work with excel spreadsheets, file, fax, distribute mail, etc
  • Assist with Music department Newsletter, design and post flyers
  • Make/create bulletin board presentations
  • Make inter-departmental deliveries/pick-ups, order supplies, compile handbooks
  • General upkeep of office
  • Assist Concert Manager as needed throughout Departmental Concert series including: Cash handling, ticket sales,  set-up/tear-down,  and guest assistance
