Students must be awarded Federal Work-Study through their 2014-2015 Financial Aid award to be eligible to apply for the positions listed. All positions are available for the academic year (fall and spring semesters) and located on the USD campus, unless otherwise noted. The start date and weekly schedule will be determined at the time of hire. Most positions offer the opportunity to work 10-12 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. Students may be considered for positions with additional responsibilities and higher pay rates, depending on their skills and experience.

 English- Writing Center

Job Title: Writing Center Assistant
Pay Rate: $9.00/hour
Department Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.

  • Provide customer service at the front desk; greet visitors, answer phone calls and make appointments
  • Handle questions from students and other department visitors
  • Inventory supplies, make copies, stock desk, run errands on-campus
  • Organize, file and maintain papers
  • Type memos, letters, and assigned tasks on the computer
  • Other duties as assigned

Mission Fitness Center

Job Title: Recreation Operations Assistant
Pay Rate: $9.00/hour
Hours assistance is needed: M-Th: 6:45 a.m. – midnight, F: 6:45 a.m. – 9 p.m., Sa: 8:45 a.m. – 9 p.m., Su: 8:45 a.m. – 11 p.m.

  • Promote health and wellness of campus community through effective facility operations and facilitating related recreation/fitness programs
  • Provide orientations to patrons/guests as needed
  • Oversee facility usage including monitoring ID cards and enforcing policies
  • Act as safety monitor and emergency response facilitator
  • Provide knowledgeable customer service
  • Maintain cleaning and maintenance schedule throughout facility
  • Run errands related to the facility and fitness programs as needed
  • Support student leaders in various project  areas as requested
  • Other duties as assigned
