Students must be awarded Federal Work-Study through their 2017-2018 Financial Aid award to be eligible to apply for the positions listed.  All positions are available for the academic year (fall and spring semesters) and located on the USD campus, unless otherwise noted.  The start date and weekly schedule will be determined at the time of hire.  Most positions offer the opportunity to work 10-15 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.  Students may be considered for positions with additional responsibilities and higher pay rates, depending on their skills and experience.

Job Title: Student Assistant
Pay Rate:  $11.50/hour
Department Hours: Monday – Friday; 2pm – 6pm

Responsibilities:

  • File, Copy, collate, staple, and other clerical tasks
  • Distribute Mail
  • Handle student traffic
  • Keep track of faculty schedules
  • Provide customer service
  • Track and input data
  • Run errands
  • Assist faculty such as doing simple research or assist with special projects
  • Proofread for bi-weekly department newsletter
  • Other duties and projects as needed

Financial Aid – Document Control

Job Title: Student Assistant
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour
Department Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and file Financial Aid documents
  • Scan all incoming documents
  • Organize files in preparation for transfer to off-site storage facility
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Must have availability during Summer and Intersession

Financial Aid – Student Employment Center

Job Title: Student Assistant
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour
Department Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer phones, emails, and in-person inquiries; act as primary contact for FWS students, parents, employers, and university staff
  • Maintain and update job postings
  • Work with Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Drive
  • Comfortable working with confidential information and complex situations
  • Organize, maintain, and file Student Employment FWS forms and Financial Aid forms
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Must have availability during Summer and Intersession

Mathematics (FALL only)

Job Title: Student Assistant
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour
Department Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm

  • Answer Math Department phone and take messages
  • Handle questions from students and other department staff and visitors
  • Duplicate and scan documents
  • Inventory/Restock department supplies
  • Maintain and update department bulletin boards
  • Organize and file Math/CS department documents
  • Run departmental errands
  • Other duties, as assigned
