Students must be awarded Federal Work-Study through their 2016-2017 Financial Aid award to be eligible to apply for the positions listed.  All positions are available for the academic year (fall and spring semesters) and located on the USD campus, unless otherwise noted.  The start date and weekly schedule will be determined at the time of hire.  Most positions offer the opportunity to work 10-15 hours per week during the fall and spring semester.  Students may be considered for positions with additional responsibilities and higher pay rates, depending on their skills and experience.

Community Service Learning (Mulvaney Center for Community, Awareness & Social Action)- Van Driver

Job Title: Van Driver
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour
Department Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.

Required: Federal Work-Study included in 2016-2017 Financial Aid Award 


  • Operate mini-van to transport volunteer students between USD and community partner sites in the Linda Vista community
  • Act as liaison between volunteers and the Mulvaney Center
  • Must make as many shuttle runs as needed- being prompt in transporting as well as returning students to campus
  • Keep accurate records of van mileage and student participation in log book provided
  • Attend all meetings and activities required of Mulvaney Center Leaders
  • Knowledge of all project sites and daily activities and help with distribution of flyers, distribution of campus mail, copying and data entry
  • Complete a project evaluation at the end of each semester

Creative Zone

Job Title: Creative Zone Service Staff
Pay Rate: $11.50/hour
Department Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

  • Provide assistance to the Creative Zone Student Manager, Creative Zone Graphic Designers, Associated Students (AS), Torero Program Board (TPB), student organizations, campus departments and any other point-of-service customers in their efforts to create marketing materials for their respective events/programs by:
    • Maintaining and supervising use of Creative Zone equipment
    • Maintaining inventory of Creative Zone equipment and supplies
    • Monitor service orders
    • Collecting payment from customers
  • Assist in maintenance of the Creative Zone, communicating with SLIC Coordinator, Creative Zone Student Manager, and AS Executive Assistant to keep Creative Zone fully stocked and functional
  • Actively participate in promoting campus events, news, and various other content through Torero Life social media accounts
  • Monitor communication via Creative Zone e-mail address
  • Log UC/SLP/Kiosk flyer posts and approvals
  • Other duties as assigned
