Students must be awarded Federal Work-Study through their 2012-2013 Financial Aid award to be eligible to apply for the positions listed. All positions are available for the academic year (fall and spring semesters) and located on the USD campus, unless otherwise noted. The start date and weekly schedule will be determined at the time of hire. Most positions offer the opportunity to work 10-12 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. Students may be considered for positions with additional responsibilities and higher pay rates, depending on their skills and experience.

Cal-SOAP
Job Title: College Peer Advisor
Pay rate: $11.00
Hours Needed: 5 hours/day, 2 days/week (Prefer mornings)

Responsibilities:
- Provide support to students in grades 9-12 from a designated high school site
- Motivate and discuss with students regarding postsecondary educational opportunities
- Share your experiences in individual and small group settings

Job Title: Research Assistant
Pay Rate: $8.50/hour
Department Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

- Provide clerical and research support
- Assist with even planning and implementation

Community Service-Learning
Job Title: Youth to College Tutor
Pay Rate: $9.00/hour
Department Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Responsibilities:
- Support improvement of academic skills with one child or small groups at a local school or community center
- Establish consistent relationship with student(s)
- Meet goals: improve strategies for learning, increase the students' self-esteem, provide students with the skills they need to succeed in school
- Attend all training meetings
Job Title: Van Driver
Pay Rate: $9.00/hour
Department Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.

Responsibilities:
- Operate mini-van to transport volunteer students between USD and various locations in the Linda Vista community
- Act as liaison between volunteers and the Community Service-Learning office
- Keep accurate records of van mileage and student participation in log book provided
- Knowledge of all project sites and daily activities and help with distribution of flyers, distribution of campus mail, copying and data entry
Counseling Center
Job Title: Student Assistant
Pay Rate: $8.00/hour
Department Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Responsibilities:
- Assist visitors at the USD Counseling Center and Disability Services front desk: answer phones, attend to student, parent, faculty and staff needs. and direct them as needed
- Schedule student appointments
- Assist in clerical tasks including faxing, filing and scanning documents, copying notes, posting and distributing flyers, campus errands, etc.
- Maintain office cleanliness and organization
