Vice President for Finance & Chief Financial Officer
Terry Kalfayan is an alumnus of the University of San Diego and serves as Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer. She leads strategic financial efforts and oversees key operational functions including Accounting, Accounts Payable, Budget, Payroll, Procurement, Student Financial Services, Treasury, Tax and Compliance, and Risk Management. Ms. Kalfayan is responsible for the planning and implementation of USD’s $360 million annual operating budget, and she plays a pivotal role in campus planning and capital financing. She is a member of the President’s Cabinet.
From 2000 to 2007, Ms. Kalfayan served as Controller for USD, where she led financial reporting, tax compliance, and the development of the university’s internal control framework. In 2007, she assumed the role of Assistant Vice President for Budget and Treasury which involved the management of USD’s annual operating budget, long-term investments, tax-exempt debt portfolio, and endowment growth in support of the university’s academic mission. In 2013, she was appointed Vice President for Finance and CFO.
A native of San Diego, Ms. Kalfayan has held management positions with Sharp Healthcare and she began her career at Deloitte, an international public accounting and consulting firm. Ms. Kalfayan has served on the County of San Diego Audit Committee, the West Coast Conference Audit Committee, and the Academy of Our Lady of Peace Board of Directors.
