Roy L. Brooks, JD, Warren Distinguished Professor of Law at USD and author of Racial Injustice in the Age of Obama and When Sorry Isn't Enough: The Controversy Over Apologies and Reparations for Human Injustice, will dicuss themes from his new book, The Racial Glass Ceiling: Subordination in American Law and Culture (Yale University Press, 2017). In this work, Brooks explores the socioeconomic, judicial, and cultural conditions confronted by African Americans today, defining the problem as one of racial subordination, or "the act of impeding racial progress in pursuit of nonracist interests", and offering a solution that draws upon distinctively American virtues.
