The San Diego Chapter of Young Tax Lawyers is hosting a program on the new implications of tax laws for same sex marriages. Three months after the United States Supreme Court ruled the Tax Code violates the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment as it relates to same-sex couples, we are only beginning to see the broad-reaching impact of this decision.

Presenters:

  • Danielle P. Barger. Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law, and an Adjunct Professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law. She is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, the North County Bar Association, the California State Bar Association, Wealth Counsel, the Greater San Diego Business Association, and the North County Estate Planning Council.
  • Sarah T. Schaffer, CFLS. After Spending 4 years at Higgs, Fletcher and Mack LLP, Sarah started her own family and tax law practice in Del Mar. She currently serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserves as a JAG Officer. Sarah Specializes in challenging child custody issues and high asset clients in complex division of Community Property matters.
  • Jacqueline L. Parks. Graduated from USD School of Law with her LLM in Taxation in 2010. Jacqueline currently works at U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management. Jacqueline has extensive knowledge in financial planning, ealth forecasting, income tax planning, asset management, multi-generational wealth transfer planning, estate planning, fiduciary duties, trust and estate administration, family foundations, exempt organizations and charitable gift planning.
