Patent Law Conference imageThe University of San Diego, School of Law is pleased to host the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Electronic & Computer Patent Law Summit, which will host nationally recognized patent law experts and practitioners for a fast-paced, multi-session seminar covering timely, advanced and emerging issues that impact patent law as it relates to electronics and computers.

In-house counsel and advanced patent practitioners in the electronic and computer fields will have an opportunity to discuss, debate and learn about the latest changes in law and practice, including:

  • Strategic decision making in the new first-to-file system
  • Patent practice and innovation in standards/open source
  • How the patent portfolio use and acquisition landscape is changing today
  • Trends in distributed infringement

Qualcomm Executive Vice President and General Counsel Donald Rosenberg will deliver the conference keynote address.

AIPLA is an approved provider by most states requiring CLE and have applied for credit for this meeting to all states requiring CLE. The number of credit hours will vary depending on the requirements of the individual state. For 50-minute states, up to 8.4 CLE credit hours are available. Certificates of attendance, attendance sign-in rosters and all other CLE information for various states will be available at the registration desk.

The 2012 AIPLA Electronics & Computer Patent Law Summit has been approved for Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) credit by the State Bar of California (a 60-minute state) in the amount of 7.0 credit hours. AIPLA certifies that this activity conforms to the standards for approved education activities prescribed by the rules and regulations of the State Bar of California governing minimum continuing legal education.

From all directions, once you enter the west entrance, stop by the parking kiosk for a complimentary visitor permit, then:

  • Proceed up the hill to the Institute for Peace & Justice, which will be the first building on your right side (across from Mother Rosalie Hill Hall)
  • Then make a right on Camino Way (first 4-way stop).
  • Turn right in the first driveway for parking.
  • After you park, go to the 1st floor.
  • Check-in is located in the Rotunda.
  • Campus Map. Look for building #12 on the map.

Mass Transit
For attendees wishing to use mass transit, please be advised that schedules and services are limited; consulting schedules in advance is highly recommended. The most convenient hub is the Old Town Transit Center, which is served by bus, the San Diego Trolley, and the Coaster commuter train. The Old Town station is served by USD shuttle buses.
