The Italian program at USD invites you to hear Prof. Fulvio S. Orsitto talk about the representation of Italian Americans in the media. He will address cinema, touching upon various stylemes and stereotypes that recur in films directed by Italian Americans as well directors outside the community, American television’s depiction of Italian Americans, and will briefly touch upon the presence of Italian Americans in the American music industry.
This event is open to the public. No reservation is needed. Reception to follow.
Fulvio S. Orsitto is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Italian and Italian American program at California State University at Chico. Born in Turin, Italy, he holds undergraduate degrees from the University of Turin, an M.A. in Film Studies and a Ph.D. in Italian from the University of Connecticut.
