In the words of Mother Rosalie Hill, “Beauty will attract them, goodness will lead them but the truth will hold them.” Having completed our examination of the concept of beauty, we turn this semester to an investigation into “The Idea of Goodness”, approached from a range of perspectives and disciplines.
Discussion to be introduced by:
Derrick Cartwright, PhD, associate professor and director of University Galleries
Brian R. Clack, PhD, professor of philosophy and director of the Humanities Center
Sara Hasselbach, PhD, postdoctoral fellow, Humanities Center and department of English
Reception to follow.
In Spring 2018, the Humanities Center began a major and ambitious exploration of the three underlying concepts that constituted the foundation of USD at its inception: beauty, goodness, and truth. The Idea of Goodness Series takes place on specific Tuesdays at 4pm.
