The Idea of Beauty Series: In Spring 2018, the Humanities Center will begin a major and ambitious exploration of the three underlying concepts that constituted the foundation of USD at its inception: beauty, goodness, and truth. In the words of Mother Rosalie Hill, "Beauty will attract them, goodness will lead them, but the truth will hold them." With a semester of programming dedicated to each of these fundamental ideas, we will begin a series of events and discussions investigating the idea of beauty. This will be approached from a number of perspectives and disciplines. As USD celebrates the Princeton Review award for the "Most Beautiful Campus" in the nation, this series is especially timely and inspiring.
Discussion to be introduced by:
Diane Hoffoss, PhD | Associate Professor, Mathematics
Daniel Sheehan, PhD | Professor, Physics and Biophysics
Suzanne Walther, PhD | Assistant Professor of Environmental and Ocean Sciences
Refreshments provided.
