Details

Dr. Jo Boaler is a British education author, and professor of mathematics education at the Stanford Graduate School of Education. Dr. Boaler is involved in promoting mathematics education reform and equitable mathematics classrooms.

Dr. Boaler has studied why students don’t like math and often fail in math classes. She has followed thousands of students through middle and high schools to study how they learn and to find the most effective way to unleash the math potential in all students.

She is the CEO and co-founder of Youcubed, a non-profit organization that provides mathematics education resources to parent and educators of K–12 students. Dr. Boaler is the author of seven books including, What’s Math Got To Do With It? and The Elephant in the Classroom, both written for teachers and parents with the goal of improving mathematics education in both the US and UK. Her newest book, Mathematical Mindsets was just recently released and provides practical strategies that show children, even those who are convinced they are bad at math, that they can enjoy and succeed in math.
