King of Swing: A Tribute to Benny Goodman
Directed by Justin Grinnell
In honor of "Solidarity," the Fall 2014 theme chosen by the Council for the Advancement of Catholic Social Thought, the USD Jazz Ensemble will pay tribute to Benny Goodman, the "King of Swing." In the 1930's, Goodman led one of the most popular musical groups in America and, more importantly, led one of the earliest well-known integrated jazz groups. In 1934, 80 years ago, the Benny Goodman Quartet (pictured above) dominated the US Billboard charts for 15 weeks with their #1 hit "Moonglow.”
Unless otherwise noted, ticket prices are $10 general admission; $8 seniors, USD faculty, staff and alumni; and $5 for students with valid I.D. Tickets are on sale at the door only.
