Date and Time
Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice, A-D
In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide, the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice's WorldLink program invites local youth to attend a panel discussion on the understanding of genocide and genocide reconciliation, addressing WorldLink's 2014 student-selected theme "Global Conflicts: Human Impact, Human Solutions."
The panel discussion will follow with a tour of the IPJ Galleries' newest photography exhibit, "Rwanda, 1994-2014: Seven Photographers." The exhibit includes over 40 images, documenting the Rwandan genocide and its impact over the past twenty years. Powerful images in black and white by leading photographers and conceptual artists suggest insights into a broad spectrum of concerns, from representations of human cruelty to images attesting to acts of retribution and justice.
Students from High Tech High Chula Vista will present the specialized exhibition "Never Again," nine interactive exhibits providing a better understanding of major historical conflicts and genocide around the world.
Admission is free but registration is requested. To RSVP, visit http://worldlink.eventbrite.com. This event is open to the community.
