Local youth are invited to a discussion with the 2013 Women PeaceMakers — Rehana Hashmi of Pakistan, who has helped over two million women receive health services; Philister Lawiri of South Sudan, a woman displaced by war who now advocates for greater women’s participation in the ongoing peace process; Sabiha Husic of Bosnia-Herzegovina, whose work supporting rape survivors made history when an international court designated rape as a crime against humanity and Rutuparna Mohanty of India, a lawyer who fearlessly defends women's rights in India while also running a shelter for rehabilitating trafficked and sexually exploited women and girls.
This event, addressing the WorldLink theme “Global Conflicts: Human Impact, Human Solutions,” is open to all interested high school students from San Diego and Baja Mexico.
To RSVP, contact Debbie Martinez at dmartinez@sandiego.edu or (619) 260-7568.
