Order in the Court: Practical Tips from Distinguished Judges
Sponsored by the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) and the Diversity Committee (DivCom).
BLSA and DivCom invite all USD law students to attend their annual judicial panel. A panel of local judges will discuss courtroom etiquette, share their perspectives on courtroom dos and don'ts, and answer questions about how to dress for court, how to address the judge, things to avoid in written work submitted to a court and other manners particular to the courtroom.
This year's panel features:
- Judge John A Houston, U.S. District Court, Southern District of California
- Judge Roderick W. Shelton, San Diego Superior Court
- Commissioner Terrie Roberts, San Diego Superior Court
This event is being held in conjunction with the USD School of Law Judicial Reception, which takes place right after the panel. We encourage you to attend the panel and stay for the reception, which will give you an opportunity to meet and interact with our local judiciary. Please keep in mind that registration is required for the Judicial Reception. Visit the event webpage for more information and to register.
