The 9th annual International Women's Day Breakfast featured special guest Leymah Gbowee, 2011 Nobel Laureate, Liberian peace activist, trained social worker and women’s rights advocate.
The IPJ also shared a report from the 57th U.N. Commission on the Status of Women, where the focus was on the global pandemic of violence against women.
Proceeds from the breakfast support the Women PeaceMakers Program, which documents the stories and best practices of international women leaders who are involved in human rights and peacemaking efforts in their home countries.
Ms. Gbowee also spoke at a Joan B. Kroc Distinguished Lecture Series event that evening.
