Each January, over 700 middle and high school students from San Diego County and Baja Mexico participate in WorldLink's annual Youth Town Meeting (YTM), where they meet with representatives from public and private organizations. YTMs are grounded in the belief that youth have much to offer and much to gain from discussion with experts and professionals regarding the complexities and challenges of international affairs.
On Thursday, January 24, 2013, local youth will attend WorldLink's 16th YTM, "Changing Worlds: Media's Power and Influence." This year's student-selected theme will focus on the following subtopics: social media's revolutionary change, the relevance of traditional media, the relationship between media and government, media as a humanitarian voice and media as a global activist. In preparation for the 16th YTM, WorldLink high school interns produced the annual WorldLink Reader – an online tool providing youth worldwide the important background knowledge on topics of this year's YTM.
This event is closed to the public. However, the general public may volunteer at this event. To volunteer, please contact Megan Theriault at firstname.lastname@example.org or (619) 260-7618.
