Nancy Sanchez, 2012 Woman PeaceMaker from Colombia, will lead a discussion with youth from San Diego County and Baja Mexico, addressing her role as a journalist and human rights activist in her home country. Her work has taken her to remote and dangerous regions of the country, while paramilitaries were committing massacres against civilians. Her vigilant monitoring of human rights abuses resulted in death threats and she was forced to flee the country. Upon her return in 2003, she began to work with Asociacion MINGA, a human rights organization dedicated to providing resources to women living in remote areas.

This event, addressing the WorldLink theme "Power and Influence of Media," is open to all interested middle and high school students.

To RSVP, email Debbie Martinez at dmartinez@sandiego.edu.
