Silvia M. Garrigo, Chevron’s manager of Global Issues and Policy, will tell the story of how Chevron Corporation has created economic opportunities through corporate responsibility and strategic social investment.
Today’s business leaders are faced with tremendous pressure to continuously improve their organizations’ performance. They must find ways to do so without harming the environment and the local communities they serve. Social responsibility has many forms. Garrigo will provide an inside perspective on how one of the world’s leading energy companies maintains a “societal license to operate.” She will explain how Chevron provides significant business and economic value by maximizing the company’s human and financial capital to be a positive force within local communities on a global scale.
Silvia M. Garrigo is manager of Global Issues and Policy for Chevron’s Policy, Government and Public Affairs (PGPA) organization. She leads Chevron’s corporate responsibility issues and strategy team, which guides a best-in-class approach to the company’s policies, programs and goals in this area. Garrigo and her team are responsible for monitoring global policy trends and issues that could impact Chevron’s operations, competitive advantage and reputation and make corporate policy recommendations to senior level management to help guide policy development and decision-making. She leads stakeholder engagement with non-governmental organizations, shareholders, socially responsibly investor groups, employees, think tanks, multi-stakeholder voluntary initiatives, academic institutions and policy organizations on corporate responsibility through bilateral and multilateral engagements, speaking engagements and the annual Corporate Responsibility Report.
