Join us for the fifth annual in-depth speaker series for educational leaders at the ELDA Spotlight on Education Speaker Series, sponsored by the Educational Leadership Development Academy (ELDA) in the University of San Diego’s School of Leadership and Education Sciences.

The fifth annual in-depth speaker series for educational leaders will focus on "Next Steps: Using Curriculum and Learning Technology in 21st Century Schools." Mike Schmoker's talk will discuss "The Opportunity: From Brutal Facts to the Best Schools We’ve Ever Had."

Mike Schmoker, EdD, is an educator, consultant, and author of five books and numerous articles, which have appeared in Educational Leadership, Phi Delta Kappan, Education Week and TIME magazine. In his presentation, Schmoker argues convincingly that if student achievement is to improve, especially in the higher-order proficiencies, instruction will necessarily have to change and improve simultaneously. He sets out a clear but simple agenda to achieve such a transformation in American schools. Throughout his presentation he will be referring to real schools and districts that demonstrate the power of utilizing elements most essential to substantive, measurable improvement.
