Each TLC Faculty was asked to create a mini-seminar in response to the following prompt:
"What problem are you inspired to examine within your discipline, and how do you go about it?"

Mini-Seminar Title: Does the Catholic Church have a "woman problem"?

Instructor: Dr. Emily Reimer Barry

Mini-Seminar Description: This talk will address the contested role of women in the Catholic Church, examine arguments for and against the exclusion of women from ordained leadership in the church, and discuss the implications of the lack of women's voices in positions of hierarchical authority. After presenting an overview of feminist theological method, we'll discuss a way forward and some hopeful possibilities for change. I'll explain why I stay in a church that doesn't ordain women, and how I reconcile my identity as both Catholic and feminist. All are welcome!

Dr. Emily Reimer Barry teaches THRS 332: HIV/AIDS and Christian Ethics.
