Each TLC Faculty was asked to create a mini-seminar in response to the following prompt:
"What problem are you inspired to examine within your discipline, and how do you go about it?"

Mini-Seminar Title: How does architecture play a role in our everyday lives?

Instructor: Dr. Juliana Maxim

Mini-Seminar Description: How does design regulate basic aspects of our lives, such as the consumption of food and shelter? What are the mechanisms through which architecture governs our conduct, everyday practices, and mindsets? How does the design of housing regulate employment, culture, social lives, and gender roles? I will test these questions in relation to the most iconic type of American architecture, the suburban house as it developed after World War II.

Dr. Juliana Maxim teaches ARCH 221: Architecture and Theory Since 1945.
