Tito Algería is an urbanist who specializes in the analysis of cities, particularly along the Mexico-US Border. Algería’s research spans across many urban spheres, contributing to a discourse that focuses on the development of cities on the border. This discourse includes questions of land use in Mexican cities, and the socioresidential segregation in Latin American Cities. Within these themes, Algería has conducted research projects on urban growth, trans-border labor, commercial sub-centers, intra-urban service infrastructure, urban segregation, normalizing land-use, inner city land use, and urban integration of migrant work force.

Algería has published three books and many articles and academic papers delivered internationally in Mexico, US, Dominican Republic, Italy, Peru, Switzerland, France, England, and Chile. His last book is entitled: “Metropolis Transfronteriza: Revision de la Hipotesis y Evidencias de Tijuana, Mexico, y San Diego, Estados Unidos” and is plublished by Editorial Miguel Ángel Porrúa and El COLEF (2009).

Algería is a member of the editorial board of the journals Ciudades, Red Nacional de Investigacion Urbana (RNIU) and Frontera Norte (COLEF). Algería is an active participant in UNESCO’s SSIIM Professorship for Social and Spatial Inclusion of International Migrants, coordinated by the University of Venice.
