Judge Trentacosta is presently the assistant presiding judge for the San Diego County Superior Courts. Previously, he was the criminal presiding judge for San Diego Superior Court, Central Division, and the supervising judge of the South County Division of the San Diego Superior Court. Judge Trentacosta is presently a member of the statewide California Judges Association Judicial Ethics Committee. Formerly, Judge Trentacosta was the president of the Plaintiffs’ Trial Bar, the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego (2000) and the president of the San Diego Inns of Court, College of Advocacy (1997). He is presently a master in the Louis Welsh Inns of Court and adjunct professor of “Trial Practice” law at California Western Law School.
Judge Trentacosta has taught trial and deposition techniques for CEB, National Institute for Trial Advocacy, San Diego Inn of Court, and other organizations and law schools. He was an instructor of Advanced Traffic Collision Investigation at the San Diego Police Academy from 1985 to 2000. He is an alumnus of the University of San Diego School of Law and he is a frequent guest lecturer for both state and local trial lawyer organizations.
