Professor Stefan Vander Elst of the Department of English will present on “The Crusades and the Problem of Romance.”
Professor Vander Elst is a specialist in Middle English literature (particularly Chaucer and fourteenth-century romance), rhetoric, and propaganda for the later crusades. His work focuses, among other things, on the literary representation of medieval politics. For this colloquium he will be presenting the fruits of his recent research.
Light refreshments will be served. Students are encouraged to attend.
