Lunch and Learn with CHR@USD in honor of Valentine’s Day:
“Battle of the Sexes: Male-Female Conflict in Insects" featuring a presentation by Professor Geoffrey Morse, department of Biology
If you ever thought you had it tough on Valentine's Day, just be glad you're not a seed beetle! These tiny insects will make your worst relationship experience seem like a cakewalk with their numerous spines in 'all the wrong places.' And for you guys out there, it could be worse! Many armored scale insects simply do away with the male insects altogether. Come listen as biology professor Geoffrey Morse discusses his research and as he tries to understand why insects are prone to such relationship difficulties and what the long-term consequences are of this brutal 'Battle of the Sexes.'
