A luncheon to honor Evelyn Díaz Cruz of USD’s Theatre Arts Department for the Innovations in Experiential Education Award.
Cruz will speak on “Theater and Community Service-Learning: Taking it to the Streets”. Cruz says, "Theatre is a living art form that reflects and embodies the issues and concerns of the people who inspire and create it. Theatre’s experiential nature is a useful instrument for engaging holistic student learning in any field. I will share some reflections and practical skills for engaging the student in body, mind, emotion, spirit and community service learning. The session will conclude with representative samples of student work using live theatre."
This award is given annually to a faculty member who is selected from nominations by other faculty, and is based on originality and impact on students, courses/programs, and the community. For more information and the list of past recipients, go to Community Service-Learning.
