Theatre Arts presents an imaginative and irreverent look behind the scenes of the White House where first ladies Jackie and Mamie, among other historical figures, reveal themselves in song through four musical chamber pieces. "First Lady Suite (in concert)," a musical by Michael John LaChiusa, directed by guest artist, Carrie Klewin.
On Friday, December 12, a post-show discussion will take place directly following the production of FIRST LADY SUITE (in Concert). Titled “First Ladies on the Public Stage,” our discussion will explore will the construction of First Lady public personas by the media and in the popular imagination; the multi-valenced representation of women in the political sphere; as well as gender and power in contemporary American politics.
