MICHELLE M. JACOB
Fall 2008 Courses: ETHN 110D -01: Ethnic Identity in the United ETHN 110D: Ethnic Identity in the United States
Michelle M. Jacob received her Ph.D. in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara with an emphasis in Human Development and course work in Women’s Studies. Professor Jacob also holds a Master’s in Sociological Practice from CSU San Marcos. Her areas of interest include: health, wellness, community, gender, politics, human rights, and indigenous activism. Professor Jacob’s research is focused on her own Reservation community, to better understand, treat, and prevent health problems such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Additionally, she is a member of a San Diego County network aimed at creating educational environments that are more suited to indigenous peoples' needs. Professor Jacob takes an interdisciplinary and critical approach to teaching and learning.
