San Diego County Greenhouse Gas Inventory
Project Overview
The San Diego County Greenhouse Gas Inventory Project was a joint effort between EPIC and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at USD. The goals of the project were to:
- Calculate historical greenhouse gas emissions for San Diego County from 1990 to 2006 using the best available data;
- Estimate future emissions to 2020 for San Diego County;
- Establish emissions reductions targets for the region based on AB 32; and,
- Identify and quantify potential emissions reduction strategies to determine the feasibility of reducing emissions to 1990 levels by 2020.
The project was made possible with seed funding from the San Diego Foundation and additional funding from San Diego Association of Government and NRG Energy, Inc.
Project Results
The results of the report are presented in an executive summary report and 8 supplemental reports that contain detailed analysis for each category of the inventory.
