Date08/22/2008
Description

The S-STEM scholarship gives local community college transfer students who are talented but have financial limitations the opportunity to earn a baccalaureate degree in engineering at the University of San Diego.  These students will be provided with a level of academic, financial, and personal support necessary to allow them to earn their bachelor of science degrees in three years in an academic environment committed to their needs.  Although not limited, the program will target low-income, underrepresented ethnic minority (referred to as “minority”) and women engineering students.

The proposed program provides 12 talented transfer students (referred to as S-STEM Scholars) scholarship support of $10,000 per year, based on financial need, to work towards degrees in engineering.  USD Engineering offers three programs: electrical, industrial and systems, and mechanical engineering.
