Dr. Truc Ngo is Professor and Chair of Industrial & Systems Engineering Department at the University of San Diego. She teaches courses related to manufacturing processes, manufacturing systems and sustainability to different engineering majors and a more recently developed Design of Coffee course to non-engineering majors. Her research interests are in the areas of materials and processes involving polymers, composites, organic semiconductors and supercritical fluids. She has also led several humanitarian engineering service learning trips with undergraduate students to the Dominican Republic. Dr. Ngo and her teams developed sustainable solutions in the areas of water, energy and wastes to help improve the living conditions of local Dominicans.

Dr. Ngo received her Bachelor’s (with Highest Honors) and Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Before joining the University of San Diego, she had worked as a Senior Process Engineer for several years at the Portland Technology Development Group and the California Technology Manufacturing Group, Intel Corporation, where she developed cutting-edge fabrication processes to manufacture microchips for computers and mobile devices. She had also taught in the Engineering & Technologies Department at San Diego City College as an Associate Professor for five years, where she found and established the Manufacturing Engineering Technology Associate’s degree program.
