David Malicky is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering. He earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan with a dissertation that placed 1st in the ASME Bioengineering Division's PhD Student Paper Competition. He taught mechanical engineering at Valparaiso University for 2 ½ years, worked in industry for five (5) years including three (3) years at Ford Motor Company, and has a MS in counseling and educational psychology from the University of Kansas.
Dr. Malicky’s research interests are in biomechanics, silicone coatings, guitar acoustics, CNC machines, and engineering education. His teaching interests include project-based and hands-on courses such as First-Year Design and Senior Design, and mechanical engineering topics such as Mechanics of Materials and Biomechanics.
