Riding The Waves of Science

The University of San Diego hosts the 20th annual Walk on Water Competition this Saturday, April 16 from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. The event  takes place at the Sports Center Pool, about 200 yards east of USD’s main entrance at the top of Linda Vista Road.

USD’s Engineering Programs sponsor the event for local high school students to promote the field of engineering and its importance to society. Students are assigned the task of designing, constructing and piloting “shoes” to race across the pool. The project teaches basic scientific and engineering design principles including buoyancy, stability and propulsion.

USD’s undergraduate engineering program is ranked 21st in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
