Construction News: Student Life Pavilion
The SLP will be open for business this August. This exciting new hub of student activity is located adjacent to the Hahn University Center and the east parking structure.
Updates
- The SLP is on track, new dining locations will open on 8/3/09.
- The Student Life Pavilion will be the first LEED certified building at USD.

Dining Locations:

Tu Mercado (main level): a marketplace like no other. Full-scale grocery line, deli, smoothie, gelato and coffee bar, retail and gifts.
- Pavilion Dining (lower level): Mu Shu (Chinese), Sea Salt Grill (American favorites), Nori Now (Japanese), Tapenade (Mediterranean), Maiz (Latin), Lemon Grass (Vietnamese), Heirloom Cucina (Italian/woodfired pizza), Chives (salad bars), Bay Leaf (soup and chil station), Out of the Box! (cereal bar) and La Tarte (desserts).
Student Offices: including Associated Students, Greek Life, the Women's Center, SLIC, United Front, Vista, USD TV and Radio and more.
- Various lounge areas, an outdoor plaza and open spaces to socialize or study.
Dining Closures and Alternative Options
Due to construction and renovations to the University Center, the Marketplace (Deli, Bakery and Market) is closed as of 4/24. Alternative UC dining options are now available.
The Marketplace has enjoyed serving the USD community for the past 23 years. Having served an estimated 6.1 million people, and sold over 1.7 million sandwiches and a quarter of a million coffees!
Frank’s Lounge will open this August in the former Marketplace location.
Current University Center dining options:
Coffee Cart: Located outside, in front of the UC
Menu: Coffee, Tea, Pastries, Bagels, Fruit, Acai Bowls,Oatmeal and more.
Summer Hours: as of June 1
Monday - Friday 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

BBQ: Located outside, in front of the UC. To re-open in July.
Payments Accepted: Meal Plans, Cash, Campus Cash, Dining Dollars,
Visa and MasterCard.
