Mission Statement and Goals
The Social Issues Committee will: increase awareness of social issues; instigate positive change through communication, advocacy, and activism; and embrace the value of respect, dignity, and compassion by:
- Creating opportunities to bring diverse people together and developing skills within a community of learners;
- Responding to contemporary conflicts as they affect the campus community;
- Focusing attention on an area of social controversy through an annual theme;
- Collaborating, coordinating, and communicating Social Issues within the entire USD community;
- Challenging perceptions of communities outside of USD and promoting connections with those communities
