TitleSociology Students Receive First Rauner Award
Date10/27/2009
Description

Hannah Evans and Kelsey D. Johnson, sociology majors, were honored as the first recipients of the Dr. Judy S. Rauner Scholarship for Community Service award during the Global Dialogue Luncheon held at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice on October 8, 2009.  Created by the Rauner family, the award commemorates the founding director of USD's Center for Community Service-Learning.

Slated to be given annually at USD's Social Issues Conference and in conjunction with the lecture named in Rauner's honor, the scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior student who has exercised significant leadership in the Center for Community Service-Learning (CSL) or the Center for Awareness, Service and Action (CASA).  Selection of recipients is made in collaboration with  the Rauner family, based on nominations from the center's staff regarding attributes of character, academic achievement, and commitment to social justice.

Congratulations to two stellar sociology students.
