Faculty
University of San Diego Faculty have numerous avenues for community involvement through the Center for Community Service-Learning. They may select community based assignments to achieve the objectives of their courses through Service-Learning. Our Center supports this work by developing partnerships, by training and encouraging student leadership, and by connecting faculty to resources, conferences, and other opportunities.
Faculty publications in service-learning have contributed to the advancement of this pedagogy and our center supports faculty research and publication efforts. USD has been featured in key studies in this developing field.
The Experiential Education faculty committee not only supports service-learning through workshops and conference attendance, but also supports community based research, classroom simulations, and internships.
The social justice issues underlying the need for service are also addressed through the Social Issues Committee. Faculty play an important role in planning an annual conference and other special events.
