
Student Leaders
Student leaders work with faculty members to provide service learning information and to offer support to their classmates.
Student leaders enroll in a field experience leadership seminar to enhance their theoretical understanding and practical skills.
Description of Duties
- Facilitate student placement at sites by preparing schedules
- Manage student participation in site orientations
- Maintain ongoing communication with each of the sites the class visits
- Support students and faculty by being available for problem solving and maintaining open lines of communication between faculty, students, site coordinators, and community partners
- Gain feedback from students in the class and contribute to the development of the program by providing meaningful information to the Center for Community Service–Learning
- Facilitate reflection in conjunction with faculty that links course content to service activities and complete additional tasks for the class as agreed upon
Qualifications
- Responsible individual with a high degree of independent judgement
- Ability to relate to persons who are from a variety of backgrounds with a positive, helpful attitude
- Highly organized leader who remembers to meet on a weekly basis with their Community Service Learning mentor and regularly meet with their faculty member
- Punctual and dependable
- Ability to work both independently and as a collaborator

Site Coordinators
The site/project coordinator collaborates with the Center for Service Learning, the community agency/school staff, and the student participants to maintain a quality site placement.
Site Coordinators are not required to take a leadership course and can apply for leadership positions through CASA.
Description of Duties
- Assist in organizing and facilitating logistics of all orientations and reflections
- Work closely with school/agency liaison on developing service learning placements and other administrative responsibilities
- Monitor USD student participant attendance and report to USD faculty
- Facilitate ongoing evaluations during the semester and compile a summary at semester's end

- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Experience working in community agencies/schools
- Punctual and dependable
