The Opportunity of Peace for Business and Markets

Peace is statistically related to better business environments, higher per capita income, higher educational attainment, and stronger societal resilience. Steve Killelea, founder of the Institute for Economics and Peace and the creative force behind the Global Peace Index, will discuss the intersection of peace, business, and economic growth, highlighting the opportunity that peace metrics provide for policy-makers and corporate leaders to develop and sustain peacebuilding initiatives.

Speaker Biography:
Steve Killelea is an accomplished entrepreneur in high technology and international business development and at the forefront of philanthropic activities focused on peace and sustainable development. With over 30 years experience in the information technology industry, Killelea is highly skilled in international marketing, business and product strategy, and has developed two highly profitable global companies with exceptional track records. Over the last two decades he has applied these skills to his global philanthropic activities, first establishing The Charitable Foundation and then the Institute for Economics and Peace and the Global Peace Index. He founded the Institute for Economics and Peace to focus on better understanding the linkages between business, peace and economic development. He is also the founder of the Global Peace Index, the first ever tool for measuring the peacefulness of countries and identifying the drivers of peace. The Global Peace Index is now considered the world’s leading benchmark for measuring the peacefulness of nations, is used by many leading organizations, and is often quoted in the international press. Killelea is also a regular speaker at global forums on conflict, peace, governance and development.
