Living Olé! This Weekend: Welcome to all New Toreros!

This event occurred in the past

The first day of school isn’t until Wednesday, Sept. 6, but the energy level on the University of San Diego campus is surely palpable with the traditional new student orientation programs, Olé! Weekend, September 1-5, which is for first-year students, parents and families and from Sept. 2-5 for all transfer students, parents and families.

This Labor Day Weekend will be a great introduction to everything that the University of San Diego, which The Princeton Review recently named as having the nation’s most beautiful campus, has to offer.

First-year Toreros will move into their residence halls today (Sept. 1) from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. while transfer students will move in from 9 to noon on Saturday. From there, a host of events catering to both new students and their families will take place throughout campus all weekend. A few special welcome events (invitation only) today are lunch for international new students and parents, first-generation student and family lunch, and a black student welcome reception. There will also be more than 30 offices around campus participating in an open house format from 12:30-4:30 p.m. today to welcome students, families and answer any questions you may have about their services.

There will also be great opportunities to root on several Torero sports teams such as women’s volleyball, men’s soccer, football and women’s soccer during the weekend. Connect with USD Athletics via its website for more information.

There will be residence hall community meetings and with Resident Assistants (RA), Living Learning Community and Scholastic Assistant (SA) meetings at different times during the weekend for both first-year and transfer students. The Mass of Welcome, open to all first-year and transfer students and their families takes place on Sunday, 11 a.m. in the Jenny Craig Pavilion. The mass is the final scheduled parent and family event during the weekend.

Several fun and interesting activities await students, including Monday’s special Changemaker programming, learning more about Belonging at USD and an evening of fun provided by the Torero Program Board. Tuesday concludes with the New Student Orientation in the JCP and, for students from outside the state of California, there’s an evening student social.

Several informative services such as Campus Card Services, the USD Torero Store, Mail Center, One Stop Student Center, Parking Services, U.S. Bank and the ITS Help Desk will be open at various times during the weekend to assist students with all of their needs.

Welcome to the University of San Diego and best wishes to all students, parents and families on a wonderful weekend. Olé!
