Copley Library to Host 4th Annual Digital Initiatives Symposium

Copley Library at the University of San Diego will host its fourth annual Digital Initiatives Symposium on the afternoon of Monday, May 1 and all day Tuesday, May 2, in the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice.

This symposium brings together college and university librarians and organization representatives who work with digital platforms throughout California and across the nation. There are numerous workshops, two keynote speakers and group discussions on a wide variety of topics that center on libraries, best practices and their role in the digital age. 

Online registration has closed. Check-in registration is from noon to 1 p.m. May 1 and 8-9 a.m. on May 2 in the KIPJ Rotunda. 

There are three concurrent workshops on May 1 from 1-4 p.m., followed by dinner and discussion.

On May 2, there are two keynote addresses, one by Joan K. Lippincott from the Coalition for Networked Information on "Fulfilling Our Mission in the Digital Age," from 9:15-10 a.m. in the KIPJ Theatre and one on Developments in the National Digital Platform at IMLS with Maura Max with the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) from 4:15 to 5 p.m. in the KIPJ Theatre. In between there are a variety of workshops and panel discussions from 10:15-11:45 a.m., 1-1:45 p.m., 1:50-2:35 p.m. and 2:45-3:25 p.m. and 3:25-4:10 p.m. There will also be user group meetings from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday for Bepress, DSpace, Fedora and Islandora to close out the symposium schedule.
