The University of San Diego operates under a conditional use permit granted by the City of San Diego. This permit allows the university to not only operate as a nonprofit business, but to also conduct special events in keeping with its educational mission. USD is intensely aware that the 180-acre campus and its 7,800 students have occasion to generate traffic, noise, lights, and other unwanted attention.
USD goes to significant efforts to minimize any impacts on our neighbors and welcomes the opportunity to discuss specific issues. Please contact the Office of Community and Government Relations if you have a particular concern, question or suggestion on how USD can be a better neighbor.
About half of USD’s students chose to live off campus. Many of those students live in the beach communities closest to campus. In an effort to provide guidance and perspective on student conduct, the USD administration and commuter representatives from Associated Students developed and distributed an informational brochure for students stressing courtesy and safety.
