Eric Pierson, Department Chair beginning Fall 2006, received his Ph.D. from the Institute of Communication Research at the University of Illinois, Champagne Urbana (2000). He teaches several courses in media studies at USD, including Intro. to Media Studies, Media Processes & Effects, Communication Criticism, Film & Cultural Politics, and Video Production. His most recently developed course, Independent Cinema (with Dr. Pace), includes a trip to the Sundance Film Festival. He is currently serving as editor for a special issue of Screening Noir, and he has written on blaxploitation, film, and culture, and media ethics.
