January 2016 Graduates
Congratulations on your recent graduation from USD! As a January graduate, your degree will be posted on your transcript by the second week in February to show proof of completion before May. Diplomas are mailed in mid-to-late February and should arrive within 6-8 weeks. Mid-Year Graduates' Celebration Mass and Reception
A special mid-year Celebration Mass and reception will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. in Founders Chapel for undergraduate, graduate and law students who complete their coursework in January 2016. All are invited to attend and celebrate with the graduates. Please RSVP by Tuesday, December 8 and include your total number of guests to University Events and Promotions at firstname.lastname@example.org. The Mid-Year Graduates’ Celebration Mass is not a commencement ceremony, so caps and gowns are not worn and diplomas are not presented. A photographer will be at the reception to take individual photos of the graduates. The photography sitting is free-of-charge and caps and gowns will be provided for this purpose.
Mid-Year NROTC Graduates' Commissioning
The NROTC Mid-Year Commissioning will be Friday, December 18, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. on the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier in downtown San Diego. For more information, contact the NROTC Office at 619-260-4811.
May 2016 Commencement
January 2016 graduates are encouraged to participate in May Commencement ceremonies. Upon completion of your degree requirements and payment of all university fees, you are set to participate in May 2016 Commencement ceremonies. Please refer to the Commencement website and check your USD email account throughout the spring for additional information on May commencement. Also be sure to “like” University of San Diego Commencement on Facebook to view reminders and the most recent updates.
Grad Fest and Cap/Gown Ordering
If you will be in the San Diego area and are able to attend, you may place your cap and gown order at GradFest at the USD Torero Store Wednesday and Thursday, March 9 and 10, 2016, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the USD Torero Store. There is a $25 fee for cap and gown. Master's and Doctoral candidates rent their cap and gown; undergraduates may keep their cap and gown. You can also order graduation announcements, class rings and diploma frames and have a photo taken in cap and gown. There is no sitting fee and proofs will be forwarded to you via email. Representatives from many university departments will be on hand to answer questions. January graduates who will not be in the San Diego area during Grad Fest should visit www.usdtorerostores.com to place their orders online for cap and gown, announcements, and other graduation memorabilia. The last day to order caps and gowns online is March 31.
Grad Fest II Celebration and Cap and Gown and Ticket Pick-up
If you will be in the San Diego area and are able to attend, come to the Grad Fest II Celebration Thursday, May 5, 2016, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Degheri Alumni Center to pick up your pre-ordered cap and gown and tickets in advance, record your name (10 a.m.-4 p.m. only), check your petition status, and ask questions, all in one place. Join the fun and celebratory atmosphere. Students who cannot attend Grad Fest II may pick up their cap and gown at the USD Torero Store.

Undergraduate ceremonies ticket pick up begins May 2 at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. Students must pick up their allotted tickets in person at the JCP Ticket Office no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20. January graduates who no longer live in the San Diego area should arrange for ticket pick up ahead of time by contacting the JCP Ticket Office at (619) 260-7550 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students graduating from the undergraduate ceremonies (both the morning College of Arts & Sciences ceremony and the afternoon School of Business and Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering afternoon ceremony) are allotted seven (7) tickets each. Tickets are not needed for the Law School or Graduate Schools ceremonies, the NROTC Commissioning ceremony, or any of the Commencement masses. Name Pronunciation at Commencement
To facilitate the reading of names at Commencement, students may record their names using a name pronunciation software program set up at Grad Fest, at a kiosk on campus, or by utilizing the online recording option if they do not live in the San Diego area. Grad Images Photography will be taking photographs of each graduate on stage during the commencement ceremonies. Each graduate will be sent no-obligation proofs of the commencement photographs via email and text after the event. Proofs will also be sent via postal mail. You will have the opportunity to purchase prints after you have seen your proofs. Prior to the ceremony, visit www.gradimages.com/preregistration. Enter your email and up to 6 emails who you would like to share in your accomplishment by allowing them to view and order your photos. Commencement DVD Ordering
The University of San Diego will produce a commemorative DVD of the 2016 ceremonies. Place your order beginning in February by visiting www.sandiego.edu/commencement and clicking on the link "Order Commencement DVDs" under the section "Additional Information." DVDs should arrive by mail 6-8 weeks after commencement. Please email email@example.com if you have questions about your order.
Flowers and Leis
Orchid leis and roses are available for purchase before each Commencement ceremony. A percentage of all sales supports ongoing university programs. Flowers can be reserved online at www.graduationleis.com and picked up in front of the Jenny Craig Pavilion on the day of the ceremony.
