About the Director

Dr. Edwin L. Basilio is the director of the University of San Diego Choral Scholars and Concert Choir. He also serves on the faculty at San Diego State University where he has taught Advanced Conducting and Choral Literature.   He holds a B.A. in Classical Piano, a Master's Degree in Choral Conducting (both from San Jose State University ) and a Doctorate in Education from the University of San Diego (2002).

Dr. Basilio has directed choirs on a professional level for more than 30 years and has toured extensively throughout Europe with the USD Choral Scholars and the world renowned Red Robe Choir (Italy'04; France and Belgium '05; Spain '06; Ireland, England, Scotland '07; Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary '08), a position he has held for over 25 years.

Dr. Basilio lives in San Diego and has been married to Rebecca – an accomplished singer and conductor – for 30 years.  Together they have two children, Meghan and Gavin.
