Research Associate/Senior Research Associate, Medicinal Chemistry
Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated individuals who participate in a multi-disciplinary environment within the medicinal chemistry group practicing organic synthesis. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and synthesis of lead molecules and analyze SAR/pharmacokinetic data to advance the programs. The candidate will devise synthetic routes for discovery/optimization libraries and synthesize target molecules to support pre-clinical programs. Experience in synthesis of kinase inhibitors is desirable. Prior experience with structure and pharmacophore based drug design and familiarity with design of lead molecules and their modification as a result of assay and ADMET data is desirable. The candidate will be expected to prepare research reports and present results to the department.
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED
B.S. or M.S. in organic chemistry with 2-10 years of experience in medicinal chemistry/ organic synthesis. All applicants must have strong written, oral, organizational and interpersonal skills and demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm, integrity and self-motivation.

Position Title
Sr. Scientist (Job Code Mass Spec-05)
Job Description
The Sr. Scientist will lead the Mass Spectrometry team which will include analyzing proteins for MW and micro-heterogeneity and to develop methods which will help drive SGXÕs drug development program. Other responsibilities will include analyzing proteins for post-translational modifications and document results in LIMS. The ideal candidate will be an innovative thinker for establishing MS-based ligand screening technology, and lead the group effort for analysis work as well as project requests for LP/MS or ligand screening.
Education/Experience
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemical or Biological sciences and postdoctoral training in Mass Spectrometry. Must have 2 years industrial experience with MS spec protein. Must have proficiency in using and interpreting results of MALDI-TOF and ESI; ability to troubleshoot and maintain instruments. Strong HPLC skills and expertise in method development required. Strong leadership skills as well as proven record of managing projects essential. Excellent record keeping abilities, strong communication skills (verbal and written) and demonstrated ability to work in a high performing team are required.

Job Description
As a Sr. Development Scientist / Principal Scientist on our Technical
Support team, you will be responsible for the active participation on
cross-functional teams for technical support, technical transfer,
scale-up and validation of new and existing products/ processes to
contract manufacturing sites.
Additional responsibilities include:
Design, execution and interpretation of experiments to ensure
robustness of manufacturing processes for new or existing
pharmaceutical products.
Oversight and execution of troubleshooting and process improvement for
existing products.
Preparation of technical reports and assembly of documentation to
support regulatory submissions and FDA pre-approval inspections.
Performance of all duties in accordance with cGMPs and SOPs.
QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences,
Chemical Engineering or a related field and at least 4-8 years related
industry experience. (MS/BS degree will be considered with at
least 13+ years related experience.)
The selected candidate must be able to demonstrate a strong
understanding of fundamental scientific principals underlying
pharmaceutical processing techniques (including aseptic processing and
lyophilization) for small and/or large molecule products. You must have
a strong working knowledge of cGMPs and appropriate regulatory
guidelines as well as expertise in experimental design and statistical
analysis. Prior project management of technical oversight and the
execution of technical support (or equivalent activities) for marketed
and new drug products is required. This position requires approximately
25% travel. (Position title will be dependent upon related experience,
education and skills of the applicant.)
