This position will be located in San Diego, CA.

Development of colorants and ink formulations that provide industry-leading advantages for HP's inkjet products. Interaction with external suppliers in pursuit of colorants or other technology for use by HP. Communication of your work at appropriate forums include. staff meetings and reviews. Travel, as needed, to partner media and printer divisions, external suppliers, and conferences/ trade-shows. Take an active role in patent generation. Research and identify causes of formulation, design or technical problems. Analysis and evaluation of new materials and formulations to ensure meeting of regulatory and HP quality standards.

 

Qualifications Desired: 

Master in chemistry, polymer science, chemical engineering, material science. Ph.D. degree highly desired. Demonstrated under-standing of inkjet printers and writing systems. Analytical problem-solving and decision making skills. Screening and design-of-experiments experience. Excellent team-work, communication and documentation skills. Able to work effectively with external partners at a technical and interpersonal level and to make clear and effective presentations to inform and persuade peers and managers. Prior experience working with external suppliers, vendors or manufacturers.

Job Description:

¥   Independent design of efficient synthetic routes for scale-up.

¥   Independent development and optimization of scaleable cost-effective processes for small molecule

     new drug candidates based on a sound mechanistic understanding of reactions and processes.

¥   Working with analytical chemists to develop appropriate analytical methods for in-process assays and

     final product characterization and analyses.

¥   Perform scale-up activities to prepare multigram to kilogram quantities of new drug candidates in the

     laboratory and in 10- to 50-L reactors to support clinical candidate selection and pre-clinical

     development.

¥   Design and synthesis of new drug candidate impurity and metabolite standards to support pre-clinical

     and clinical development.

¥   Technical transfer of scaleable processes to collaborating partners or custom manufacturing organizations, including assistance in trouble-shooting if necessary.

¥   Documentation and reporting of results such as process descriptions, batch records, development

¥   Independent synthesis, purification and characterization of both parallel synthesis libraries of

Education:

Experience:
